How
to optimize and shorten the magnetic-bead
based purification workflow?
Dear
Researcher,
Magnetic beads are a versatile purification and protein-interaction analysis
tool. While working with magnetic beads, it is possible to shorten the
purification protocol and increase protein yield. Below, we have summed up tips
and data to help you optimize the workflow by adjusting specific
parameters.
For example, large proteins need more space to bind, whereby binding sites on
the beads are not accessible for other proteins. Thus, purifying large proteins
requires more beads to purify an equal number of proteins as for small
proteins.
Additionally, with the recent introduction of the new version of our magnetic
beads MagStrep
Strep-Tactin®XT beads, which gradually replace the MagStrep
"type3" XT beads, we have updated the corresponding
how-to video and protocol, both of which you can find below. The quicker
updated protocol will save you around 30 minutes of lab work compared to other
magnetic beads available on the market.
